The Centre for Surface Science was set up in the Department of Chemistry in the year 1992. In September the same year, the Centre commenced operations with a national conference on Science and Technology of Self-Organising Systems with Special Reference to New Generation Surfactants. It subsequently undertook a major DST project (details below) that has just been completed, as well as other projects and consultancy work. It is in process of negotiating for new projects.
