Research Area
|
1. Groundwater Transport modelling for Potential Contamination Risk Assessments in Arsenic-contaminated areas in India, Bangladesh & Nepal.
2. Development of sustainable water management in coastal areas in India.
3. Remedial options (using natural water systems and treatment technologies) to cope with near future (by 2025) water shortages/scarcity in urbanised areas in India.
4. High fluoride contamination in India and its remedies.
5. Human health risk from groundwater nitrate contamination and mitigation options.
6. Entry of arsenic and fluoride in soil and food chain, and its resistance.
7. Development of arsenic/fluoride/nitrate removal techniques based on low cost geological materials (e.g. micas), microbiological processes and phytoremediation techniques.
8. Identification of key geochemical processes (sorption-reduction/oxidation, co-precipitation) leading to detoxification of metals/metalloids and detailed mechanistic studies of processes affecting the mobilization and transport.
9. Heavy metal pollution and its remediation.
10. Wastewater treatment.
11. Adverse health effect of solid waste in environment and its proper management.
12. Distribution of radioactive elements in groundwater and its proper treatment.
13. Adverse health effects of pesticides, insecticides, fertilizers used extensively in agriculture and its proper management.
14. Air pollutants and its control.
